Rose Abeywickrama
Rose Abeywickrama (aka the 'Painting Pirate') is a Muralist, Environmentalist, Award-Winning Documentary Film Maker, Teacher and Art Therapist. Rose was born in Wales, UK and has spent most of her life travelling and studying throughout the world. She has studied and exhibited at Alexandra Wintersteen Parsons School of Art, Ray Brown Head of the Art Department at UCLA, Atelier des Beaux Arts in Paris, the New York Studio School. Rose also taught art classes with the Association of the Paralysed of France before starting to travel the world running arts programs and painting murals in developing countries. In 2009/10 she filmed a documentary called the 'The Fairytale Experiment' about street artists around the USA. This documentary won two awards: An Indie Film Festival Award of Merit: Feature Documentary, and an Accolade: Award of Merit: Feature Documentary. She is now based in Sri Lanka, raising awareness about oceanic conservation through public murals. |
